Austin Lighthouse for the Blind a non-profit organization, was founded in 1934 by Dr. Henry L. Hilgartner and other civic-minded citizens of Austin to provide a setting where blind men and women could come to learn skills and create products that were sold door to door.

Today, Austin Lighthouse for the Blind stays true to the mission established in 1934 by providing opportunities for economic and personal independence for people who are blind, visually impaired, or deaf blind by creating, sustaining, and improving employment. Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to support our Windows Server, Azure, and virtualized infrastructure. This role also provides ITIL-aligned Helpdesk support to internal users, contributes to cybersecurity and compliance efforts, and maintains clear technical documentation and communication. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting both end users and fellow IT staff to ensure consistent, high-quality IT service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
Manage and monitor Azure services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and Azure AD
Support and maintain VMware and Azure Stack HCI environments
Manage Microsoft 365, including Exchange Hybrid, Teams, SharePoint, and compliance policies
Provide Tier 2/3 helpdesk support and excellent customer service to staff
Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, including patching, auditing, MFA, and conditional access
Manage and support Mobile Device Management (MDM) via Microsoft Intune or similar tools
Monitor and respond to alerts through SIEM platforms and other security tools
Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, SOPs, and change logs
Participate in IT infrastructure projects, upgrades, and strategic planning
Collaborate with a cross-functional IT team to resolve issues, complete projects, and ensure continuity of services
Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of certifications and 3+ years of progressive IT experience
Strong experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration
Proficiency in Azure and Azure AD
Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure Stack HCI
Experience managing Microsoft 365 in a hybrid Exchange environment
Familiarity with MDM tools (Intune preferred)
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and experience with SIEM tools
Working knowledge of networking basics: DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls
Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills
Clear, organized documentation and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues

Preferred

Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
Virtualization – VMWARE / Azure HCI
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (CMMC, NIST 800-171, HIPAA, etc.)
Experience with backup solutions and cloud-to-cloud continuity strategies

Physical Requirements

Remain in a stationary position (stand/sit) for 4-8 hours
Lift, carry up to 25 lbs. at times
