SUMMARY

Firm Advice is conducting a search for an Associate General Counsel to fill a strategic role on behalf of a significant, prestigious global nonprofit that is dedicated to advancing equity, health and well-being of vulnerable populations. This established organization delivers impactful solutions to pressing global challenges, including health crises, humanitarian crises and disasters, and economic development initiatives. Reporting to the General Counsel, this highly visible role provides legal counsel and oversight across a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, contracts, intellectual property, data privacy, risk management, and tax-exempt status.

Hybrid work environment with only occasional need to be in office. Organization places a priority on its valued employees.

Salary range: $155,000 to $200,000 annually plus significant company contribution to pension.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic legal advice to leadership and staff on complex international organizational matters, including international development, facilitating clinical research, climate change/environment, nutrition, education, economic opportunity, humanitarian response, and/or behavioral science.
Manage outside counsel and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to mitigate legal risk and support organizational goals.
Oversee legal administrative staff and maintain key legal records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Juris Doctor (JD) or international equivalent; active U.S. bar membership.
6+ years of legal experience, preferably some of which was gained working in-house.
Industry knowledge in one of more of the areas noted above.
Experience working for a global organization and understanding the international development mission.
Experience in multiple areas, such as corporate governance, contracts / transactions, intellectual property, data privacy, risk management, insurance, or tax-exempt operations.
Supervisory experience is a plus.
Ability to work across multiple time zones on multiple priorities.
