Systems Administrator (Windows/Linux | Virtualization-Heavy)
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Systems Administrator with deep experience supporting Windows and Linux server environments, with a strong emphasis on virtualization platforms and infrastructure lifecycle management. This role will support the full infrastructure lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through deployment, patching, monitoring, incident response, and decommissioning—within a production environment that prioritizes uptime, performance, and operational discipline.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in VMware and/or Hyper-V, has strong fundamentals across Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, storage/backup, and server hardening, and brings a structured approach aligned with best practices such as ITIL, change management, and disaster recovery planning. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being the technical backbone of a server/virtualization estate while partnering across IT and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

- Own and maintain a virtualization ecosystem with heavy emphasis on:
- VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
- cluster management, HA, resource optimization, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- lifecycle support for hosts, VM templates, snapshots, patch cycles, and upgrade paths
- Support Active Directory infrastructure:
- AD domains/forests, trusts, sites/services, replication health, and UPN/DNS strategy
- Group Policy design, baseline security hardening, and safe deployment practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving:
- authentication failures (“no logon servers” issues), GPO non-application, DNS misconfigurations, replication latency
- high-latency WAN impacts and site connectivity considerations
- Support backup/recovery operations and disaster recovery readiness:
- restore testing, DR runbooks, immutable/offline backups (as applicable)
- incident response support during outages or cybersecurity events
- Monitor systems health using enterprise monitoring tools (alerts, logs, proactive remediation)
- Maintain high-quality documentation: runbooks, system diagrams, SOPs, and change records
- Participate in infrastructure roadmap planning, hardware refreshes, and platform modernization initiatives

- experience supporting production environments with uptime and performance requirements
- Strong experience with:
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
- server patching, security hardening, access controls, and operational maintenance
- Proven troubleshooting ability using a structured, methodical approach (command-line, logs, diagnostics tools, root cause analysis)
- Understanding of enterprise IT operations concepts:
- change control, lifecycle management, capacity planning, monitoring strategy
