Role Overview
The System Administrator serves as the top-level technical escalation point within the IT support department, ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of IT systems. This role requires extensive experience with network and server management, IT security, and complex troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the highest escalation point for Helpdesk, resolving advanced network, server, and IT system issues.
- Administer and optimize network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) and ensure security.
- Manage camera and access control systems, maintaining operational functionality.
- Support voice, audio, and video systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Implement and maintain data backup and recovery solutions.
- Provide expertise in Microsoft Server environments (installation, configuration, maintenance).
- Collaborate with Helpdesk to improve processes and create knowledge base documentation.
- Monitor system performance proactively to prevent failures.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Additional Duties
- Provide high-level technical guidance to clients and internal teams.
- Lead IT infrastructure projects aligned with strategic initiatives.
- Maintain professional certifications and stay current with IT best practices.
- Ensure service level agreements are met, accurately recording work and billable hours using ConnectWise.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPNs, and network infrastructure
- Experience with network operating systems, devices, and protocols
- Ability to troubleshoot, plan, and visualize network solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in network security and enterprise-level IT systems
- Self-starter, dependable, flexible, and team-oriented
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 5+ years in systems administration with a focus on network and server management
Professional Certifications
- Required: Associate-level certifications in Microsoft, Aruba, Fortinet, and Veeam
- Preferred: Advanced/professional certifications (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365 Expert, VMware VCTA)
