Position Summary
The Systems Administrator I is an entry-level member of the Infrastructure team responsible for configuring, managing, and supporting infrastructure platform technologies. This role focuses on maintaining system integrity, security, and availability to support business operations, while assisting in the implementation of system enhancements that maximize value for stakeholders.
This position works collaboratively across IT teams and business units to support stable, secure, and high-performing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prompt support for system and infrastructure issues; identify root causes and participate in developing effective solutions
- Document resolutions and communicate outcomes to impacted users
- Implement basic configuration changes and monitor system performance
- Collaborate with senior team members to tune system configurations for optimal performance
- Escalate complex issues to subject matter experts and partner with cross-functional IT teams as needed
- Participate in system upgrades, new technology implementations, and process improvements
- Follow established security policies to maintain user security, backups, data protection, system redundancy, and high availability
- Perform preventative maintenance, including applying patches, firmware updates, and device driver updates in accordance with security policies
- Maintain and lead updates to Infrastructure team Knowledge Base documentation
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours systems administration support
- Identify opportunities for automation and process streamlining (e.g., scripting and workflow optimization)
- Educate users and team members as needed
- Pursue professional development opportunities aligned with annual performance goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- OR
- Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant systems support or systems administration experience
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Basic experience and understanding of:
- Network and server operating systems
- Server and database administration tasks
- Network and storage administration tools and utilities
- Remote access configuration
- Policy-based management
- Cloud administration
- Virtualization technologies
- RESTful APIs
- Scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred)
- Disaster recovery protocols and backup strategies
