The Head of IT (US) is responsible for providing business-aligned technology leadership across SGB-SMIT’s US operations. Operating within a true matrix organization, the Head of IT (US) reports directly to the CEO of SGB-SMIT USA and functionally to the Global CIO, balancing local operational needs with global governance and long-term strategy. This role is not a hands-on engineering position. It is a senior leadership role focused on business credibility, ERP ownership, vendor governance, and forward-looking IT leadership.
Business-Focused IT Leadership·
Act as a trusted advisor to US executive leadership, translating business strategy into clear IT direction and priorities.· Proactively identify technology-enabled opportunities, risks, and constraints, presenting them in business terms (cost, risk, timing, value).
ERP Ownership – Epicor Kinetic·
Own the overall success, stability, and evolution of the Epicor Kinetic ERP platform. · Lead and develop a small internal ERP team, including: · Ensure Epicor configuration, customization, and reporting support evolving business needs while minimizing unnecessary complexity and technical debt.
Vendor & MSP Governance·
Own relationships, performance, and cost management for multiple Managed Service Providers supporting US operations. · Establish clear expectations, service levels, accountability, and escalation paths.
Infrastructure, Security & Standards Alignment·
Ensure US IT infrastructure and security posture align with global SGB-SMIT standards, policies, and risk tolerance. · Partner closely with Global IT on security, architecture, and compliance initiatives.
Leadership & Organization·
Provide clear direction, prioritization, and coaching to direct reports. · Create clarity in a matrix environment where authority is shared and collaboration is required.· Serve as the primary US point of contact for Global IT initiatives and communications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in IT or Business preferred; 5 years of Leadership experience.
- Senior IT leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or asset-intensive environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of an ERP platform (Epicor Kinetic strongly preferred).
- Proven success managing MSPs and technology vendors with accountability for outcomes and cost.
- Strong ability to communicate with executive leadership in business—not technical—terms.
- Experience operating effectively within a matrixed, multinational organization.
