This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting a mid-sized organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. The System Administrator will work in a hands-on environment providing technical support, managing core systems, and helping ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations across the organization.
The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, supporting end users, and balancing day-to-day support with ongoing system improvements and projects.
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Monitor, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and switches
- Administer and support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and identity management tools
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies
- Support endpoint management and device configuration through MDM tools
- Perform system updates, patching, and routine maintenance across servers and workstations
- Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, documentation, and internal IT standards
- Coordinate with Tier 1 support staff to ensure timely ticket resolution
- Participate in IT projects such as hardware deployments, system upgrades, and cloud migrations
- Troubleshoot technical issues across departments and work closely with internal stakeholders
- Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and support workflows
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of experience in IT support, system administration, or similar roles
- Strong working knowledge of Windows environments and Microsoft 365 administration
- Experience managing Active Directory, group policies, and remote support tools
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, firewalls, and VPN technologies
- Experience with mobile device management solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to support both technical and non-technical users
- Comfortable handling a mix of user support and infrastructure responsibilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small IT team
PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure or similar)
- Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell or equivalent)
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance concepts
- Experience supporting multiple office locations
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to ~20%)
