Overview
We are seeking a
System Administrator with strong hands-on experience managing enterprise Linux environments, along with working knowledge of Windows systems. The ideal candidate will be maintaining and securing Linux & Windows-based infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provide administration and support of both Windows and Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, Rocky, etc.), including scripting, service management, and system updates.
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain Windows & Linux servers (primarily Oracle, Rocky, CentOS, or Ubuntu) in physical and virtual environments.
- Ensure system integrity, security, and performance through proactive monitoring, hardening, and tuning.
- Manage and maintain services such as SSH, ZFS, NFS, Samba, DNS, and SMTP on Linux platforms.
- Administer and automate tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Implement configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
- Perform log management and analysis using journald, rsyslog, Logrotate, or integrated SIEM tools.
- Support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, oVirt) and containerized services (e.g., Docker, Podman).
- Integrate and support Linux systems in hybrid cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Provide basic support for Windows servers, Active Directory, and domain services as needed.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and backup strategies using tools like StarFish, rsnapshot, Veeam, or enterprise backup systems.
- Create and maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base entries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience, with 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration in a production environment.
- Deep understanding of Linux internals, system boot process, user/group management, cron jobs, and service management (systemd).
- Experience with Linux-based Storage Servers
- Proficiency in automation-based scripting.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, oVirt) and storage configuration.
- Familiarity with Windows Server administration (Active Directory, DNS, patching).
- Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills.
- On-site or hybrid, depending on organizational needs.
- Occasional after-hours maintenance and on-call support rotation.
- Physical ability to manage hardware installation and server maintenance.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Preferred: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
- Preferred: Exposure to security frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, or NIST 800-53.
- Preferred: Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Preferred: Certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, Security+, AWS SysOps, or Microsoft MCSA.
Basic Compensation: $97,000 - $107,000 yearly salary
The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
