As a Background Investigator, you will conduct detailed investigations into applicants’ personal and professional histories, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity throughout the hiring process.
This is a highly responsible position requiring discretion, analytical ability, and exceptional documentation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct confidential, comprehensive background investigations for sworn and non-sworn candidates
- Meet with and interview applicants to assess suitability and qualifications
- Verify required documentation and credentials
- Research, analyze, and document personal, employment, financial, education, military, legal/criminal, and driving histories
- Interview references, acquaintances, employers, neighbors, and other relevant sources
- Review prior background investigations and conduct follow-up interviews to resolve discrepancies
- Report significant findings to supervisors
- Prepare formal investigative background reports for management review
- Perform duties in accordance with California Penal Code § 830.3
