The Systems Technician is responsible for the technical, administrative, and training duties related to "End User Support" through the Authority's Information Technology department. The position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PC hardware and software. The Systems Technician is responsible for all phases of hardware and software support for end users, as well as assisting the Enterprise and Networking groups as needed. This position reports to the Desktop Support Manager and requires reliability, dependability, and accountability in all aspects of the defined role.
The full pay range for this position is $36.72/hourly $76,377.60 annually - $69.77/hourly $145,121.60 annually.The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. - Provide a high level of technical support to end users to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
- Perform hardware and software evaluations and diagnostics; resolve issues and/or provide recommendations for improvements to existing systems.
- Install and configure hardware and software according to specifications.
- Set up (and upgrade) workstations and necessary peripheral devices as needed.
- Configuration of new systems to best serve the different disciplines of the Authority.
- Assist the Network Administrator in researching and implementing Operating System updates and patches.
- Assist the Desktop Support Manager in all aspects of "user support".
- Assist in the development of the Authority's Computer Training Programs; evaluate and, if needed, develop instructional materials. Provide orientation and guidance to users on new software and/or computer equipment.
- Maintain an ongoing knowledge of constantly changing hardware and software drivers and utilities while implementing these updates accordingly.
- Travel periodically off-site within Palm Beach County to perform preventive maintenance on workstations and peripheral equipment at remote facilities.
- Assist the Telecom Administrator with Telecom system administration support.

- Thorough knowledge of Windows Domain operations as well as computer hardware and software with regard to their operations.

- Knowledge of Cloud Computing, including services offered by Adobe, Microsoft, Sophos, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and technology, related hardware drivers, Microsoft Office 365, and Multi Factor Authentication required.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level voice and data communication systems.
- Knowledge of basic networking and associated technologies.
- Through knowledge of the Windows Registry, User and Software Profiles, Network Protocols, VPN, and other remote access technologies.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and to present oral and written reports clearly and concisely.
- Ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English to communicate with the general public, coworkers, and subordinates; respond to inquiries; and complete reports and records accurately.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.).
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

The ideal candidate possesses the education and experience listed below.
- Associate degree (A.S or A.A.) or equivalent from an accredited university, college, or technical school with major coursework in computer science or related field.
- A minimum of three to five years of relevant computer-related experience.
- Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
- Valid Florida Driver’s license required.
- CompTIA A+ certification and/or CompTIA Network+ certification are preferred.
