When assuming this position, I took over these additional responsibilities, including the prior responsibilities listed below for the Data Center Technician role.
- Supervising and working with a team of 5 technicians
- Creating and fulfilling purchase requests and capital projects to ensure vendors and contractors are promptly paid for services
- First point of escalation for technicians on site for any questions or problems, as well as emergency procedures. On call to respond to any issue that may require assistance
- Creating bi-weekly schedules
- Ensuring service orders and projects are completed within predefined installation windows throughout site
- Designing and creating clear documentation of on site procedures, as well as training documentation.

- Sustaining cleanliness and organization throughout the data center
- Creating and sustaining positive customer relationships
- Strict adherence to ERP and escalation procedures during emergencies.
- Maintaining and monitoring critical building infrastructure such as HVAC and Electrical systems, coordinating with contractors and vendors for repairs.
- Managing a ticket queue, providing remote hands and smart hands services to clients in a prompt and professional manner, complying to company established response times.
- Racking and stacking servers, cable running, coordinating installs and de-commissions of cabinets, power, devices, cables, and containment based on customer time frames and requests, while complying with company established MTTR.
- Utilization of Building Management System software to monitor site, update and document new installs, pull environmental reports, and control utilities remotely.
- Experience working on Enterprise hardware; Troubleshooting, repairing, managing, and setting up devices of several major brands and release dates in a data center environment (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, HP, Dell, Supermicro, to name a few)
- Experience with softwares relating to Enterprise systems, such as : Vmware, PuTTY, Linux based operating systems, Windows Server, etc.
- Enforcing and administration of physical security procedures on site, including but not limited to : Escorting personnel, creating and assigning badge access and biometrics, Physical site walks, camera monitoring, and pulling access logs / reports.
- Training of personnel on many processes required to perform our jobs.
- Participating in Change Control calls, sending customer facing notifications regarding facility maintenance and emergencies.
- Experience with several methods of troubleshooting and testing copper and fiber cabling, as well as termination of copper cabling. Experienced with several pieces of testing equipment.
