About
I am a cultural anthropologist by training (PhD 2012, University of Missouri), working in information security governance, risk, and compliance. During my years in anthropology, I gained expertise in organizing, synthesizing, and generalizing vast amounts of information. As an anthropologist, I used my discipline’s holistic and comparative methods to understand and explain cultural behavior around the world. I taught thousands of students about the topics, methods, and ethics of cultural anthropology and anthropological research. Now, I apply these skills in information security—dissecting the morphology of cybersecurity frameworks, translating controls into policy, and communicating in a way that connects with cultural values to inspire intrinsic motivation toward good security behavior.
