About
Debbie West, Group Manager at Toyota Motor North America, is responsible for Cybersecurity Risk and Operations Management. She leads a talented cross-functional team to understand, prioritize, and mitigate technical and cybersecurity risk across TMNA and the North America supply chain ecosystem (including thousands of suppliers and dealers). Additionally, she guides the CISO level portfolio, strategy, and workforce planning.
History: Debbie created the TMNA Toyota Agile Practice and transformed the Information Technology division to be over 90% Agile. This involved coaching executives to shift to an Agile mindset using the Toyota Way, Toyota Production System, and Agile frameworks. Debbie was also the product owner for a global team of Toyota agilists from over 11 countries that moved Toyota agility from zero to 50% through the Global Agile Quality Circle. The group published the first “Toyota Global Agile Book”, supported by community examples from around the world.
She spent two years in Japan creating and gaining approval of Toyota's Global IT Strategy. This included influencing leadership to begin a global innovation fair and various task forces (e.g. vendor and service management, cybersecurity).
Debbie joined Toyota in 2000 and has been in IT for over 30 years. She has held virtually every position in IT, from programmer trainee to executive.
Sponsorships: Debbie’s ambition is to develop women personally and professionality. She is the executive sponsor of TMNA’s Women Influencing and Impacting Toyota organization. Debbie speaks and helps develop women around the world. In 2006, she co-founded TORQUE, the Toyota Motor Sales women’s business partnering group and in 2011 she co-led the first annual Toyota North America Women's Conference.
