My experience as a systems administrator also plays a big part with how I implement security for you. I am very familiar with Linux, Windows and cloud providers such as AWS and Azure.

1. Penetration Testing : We offer both web application and network penetration testing. We follow the OWASP Top 10 guide and NIST 800-115.
2. Network Forensics : An incident can happen at any time, We can help you review your logs and find what, where, when and how it happened. When finished, we can also work with you to fix it so it doesn't happen in the future.
3. Continuous Monitoring : To help prevent an incident from happening, you need to be persistent and monitor your network before it happens. We can help you monitor your networks and find the malicious activity before it goes to far.

My main duties are to oversee the counties network infrastructure, manage and maintain security and make sure all computers and servers are up to date and functioning. I also work with the counties IT budget and keep an ongoing relationship with software vendors. Since taking over as IT Director I became a member of the North East Michigan Fiber Consortium board. I work with other IT management from other non profit and government agencies by allowing members to join the Merit networks which gives them price benefits and a shared bandwidth pool along with other incentives. I have a team of 2 other staff members that help me maintain both the County of Alpena and the City of Alpena.

I have been in the IT and security field for over 20 years. It started with being a technician for a small IT computer repair shop to now an owner of my own cyber security consultant business. My name is Eric Vanderveer and I can help you protect your business.
My passion for security has helped gain more knowledge by meeting new friends and working with security minded people such as SANS and the Michigan Cyber Civilian Corps. These awesome connections has taught me more about security and what I can do to make it better. The future of security is changing and we need more people to be ready for it.
I have helped companies secure their infrastructure by bringing a knowledge of how networks work with the detailed workings of security. Security that is based off of NIST, CIS and CMMC. Industries that I have worked with are government contracts, financial industries, local government, schools and private small businesses. I offer information security consultation for businesses such as network forensics, security assessing and hardening, penetration testing, continuous monitoring and other security items.
