George Rettas is an innovative and dynamic senior Cyber Security Executive with two decades of training, education, and experience in the Technology, Security, and Risk disciplines. Mr. Rettas is a remarkably astute professional with exceptional business acumen and a polished executive presence. He has a proven track record in leading and managing large IT Security Teams in sophisticated, complex environments with high transaction rates and stringent regulatory oversight.
Mr. Rettas is extremely well versed in preventing, detecting, responding to and recovering from major cyber security incidents. He specializes in implementing proactive cyber security controls, leading process improvement exercises, and developing best-in-class operational cyber risk management programs based on intelligence led, threat focused, constant learning strategic models.
Mr. Rettas has a reputation as a high caliber leader with the right mix of technical and business skills needed to manage large IT Security Programs in multi-channel product environments. He has extensive experience in managing large technology budgets, managing internal audits and external regulatory exams, creating business analysis and reporting functions, detecting and investigating financial fraud, and mitigating 3rd party risk.
Currently, Mr. Rettas hosts Task Force 7 Radio, “The Voice of Cyber Security”, a weekly radio show with hundreds of thousands of listeners where he frequently hosts the most prolific Cyber Security professionals in the world on today’s most talked about technology topics. He is also a Senior Advisor to several Security and Technology companies.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Rettas held several senior executive positions in both Citibank’s and JP Morgan Chase Bank’s Technology Departments. Mr. Rettas is a former Special Agent with the United States Secret Service where he served as the original co-founder and group leader of the Newark Field Office Electronic Crimes Task Force.
Mr. Rettas holds a Bachelors Degree from Florida State University and a Masters Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He also holds a CISO Certification from Carnegie Mellon University, an Advanced Computer Security Certification from Stanford University, and a Security Leadership Certification from Wharton Business School. Mr. Rettas has served as a guest lecturer for Harvard and MIT Universities' first Cyber Security courses.
