Experience:
I have been promoted to Senior Research Scientist at Oak Ridge National Lab. I have also been selected as the next Group Leader for the Cybersecurity Research Group (CYR) in the National Security Sciences Directorate (NSSD) after a two-year search. Working at a national lab is fulfillment of a childhood dream.
We are a group of scientists with diverse interests gathered around security projects of national impact. Areas of highest impact are cybersecurity systems research and applications of data science to cybersecurity.
Our teams are small, loose, fast-moving, and unrestricted to conduct research at all clearance levels. Our research work is supported by agencies and departments across the nation and at the highest levels.
As group leader, I have the privilege of supporting the group members to provide resources and guidance as we all work together. I will be the first point of contact to assist, design strategies, and provide guidance and support to our team.
With my own diverse interests and experience, this position affords me opportunities to expand my knowledge into areas new to me. Each of us in this group are students at heart continuing to learn and apply new ideas. I am encouraging the exchange of new ideas and cool things with each other.

I am continuing my work as an computational scientist with expertise in high-performance computation (HPC). I have incorporated my long hardware and IT systems experience into this new position and have developed several large computational clusters for use by myself and colleagues for our research. I host several students a semester from Pellissippi State for their required internships. They assist with the maintenance of these systems. This enables them to learn first-hand system administration for large clusters while saving money and giving me time for research.
2012 : 2022

Computational Scientist working with climate change modeling on supercomputers and clusters
2008 : 2012

Post-Doctoral Research Associate
2001 : 2006
