As the Chief Operating Officer of Hennepin County, the largest county in Minnesota, I was responsible for building teams that consistently produced results in the following areas :
INFORMATION SECURITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Built a successful information security program to reduce risk. Working seamlessly with the various departments within the County, the maturity grew from little to no controls to a robust program based on industry frameworks.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE
Led the enterprise PMO to a process-oriented and standards-based environment, based on industry methodologies. Through the development, establishment and governance related to prioritization of work efforts, the PMO drove decision-making at the executive level. The initiatives associated with the PMO and the talented staff supporting the efforts ensured compliance with budget and schedule, based on defined project metrics.
IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT
Drove the use of the ITIL framework as a guide to improve delivery of IT services to customers. Implemented a comprehensive service management structure that established and drove continuous improvement through the entire service lifecycle.
IT STRATEGY
Directed the team to define short-term goals and long-term strategic plans for IT. Infused organizational change management, strategic workforce planning and a focus on innovation to set the direction to transform the company to function as a federated service organization.
