Chief Information Security Officer
Responsible for purchasing, installing, configuring and maintaining Makai’s workstations, servers, and network infrastructure which primarily consists of Windows servers (domain, file, mail, terminal, firewall). I also configured and maintained Linux subversion and Apache web servers onsite and on dedicated hardware offsite. I have experience with server virtualization using both Vmware and Virtualbox.
Makai’s network consists of a primary business office on Oahu, Hawaii, a secondary R&D office on the Big Island of Hawaii, and two SOHO’s in Virginia and Florida. Multiple T-1s at the central office support redundant VPN connections to Makai’s mail and file servers. Makai’s internal network consists of a 50 node Active Directory domain space.

About
I find creative technological solutions for engineering teams while meeting regulatory requirements. Innovation is an important part of Makai’s business model. We excel at finding unique solutions to complex ocean engineering problems. In order to support a creative workplace, it is important to maintain effective levels of communication between the customers, executives, and engineers while having a good understanding of the regulatory requirements that must be met. When there is a problem, I look for solutions that are best suited for everyone. It is very rewarding to implement solutions to problems that have the potential to negatively impact the forward momentum on a project. The result is a happy customer and a fulfilling and productive work environment.
