B.D. Wolcott's Sons was a beloved old-fashioned hardware store in downtown Eatontown N.J., not far from the Ft. Monmouth main gate. The store at that time was still run by Jimmy Wolcott (one of B. D. Wolcott's sons), who must have been almost 70 years old. The store is no longer there, but you will find Wolcott Park less than a block away.
Duties :
Cheerfully assisted customers in finding what they needed and rang them up at the register.
Cut keys.
Sold seed and nails by the pound, in brown paper bags.
Became intimately familiar with screw types and sizes, and their functions. Not to mention nails.
Tinted Cook & Dunn paint using a manual system. Painting's Fun with Cook and Dunn!
Cut glass to order, and repaired storm windows and screens for customers.
Unloaded bags of cement, paint cans, and other products from delivery trucks, and placed them in storage.
