Information Security Engineer
• Built and created standards for Tableau Data Source development, administered the FamilySearch Tableau Server instance, and deployed metrics on department Intranet site.
• Consolidated 18 different sources (MySQL, Access, Excel, SharePoint Lists, Oracle) for Mixed Workforce project, architected new solution, presented to senior staff. Took over project management, ETL data from sources into Dynamics CRM, and did some development work within Dynamics above and beyond normal job function.
• Demonstrating integrity, expertise, and knowledge of data led to an appointment as the department’s data steward by the FamilySearch CEO. Duties and responsibilities include classifying all data and approving/denying internal and external data sharing agreements as part of our data governance policies.
• Built trust and confidence with other data owners that allowed us to combine our information with sensitive information from other groups. This significantly sped up the approval times for shared data requests and allowed access to information most groups struggle to achieve.
• Convinced executive management to put FamilySearch data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse to create a single source of reporting truth. Involved in business requirement gathering, modeling, ETL, and testing.
• Built FamilySearch centralized BI site in SharePoint, utilizing SSRS to solve issues with deploying needed reports and dashboards requiring accessibility globally in different languages.
