Overview
We are seeking a Systems Administrator to support operations at Fort Meade. This role focuses on administering and securing enterprise and hardened environments, with a strong emphasis on RHEL Linux, Windows Server, and Active Directory. The ideal candidate will have experience working in DoD-regulated environments and supporting systems aligned with RMF and DISA security standards.
This position requires a hands-on administrator who can operate in mission-critical, security-focused environments.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and secure Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server 2019/2022 systems in enterprise or hardened environments
- Perform Active Directory administration, including user, group, GPO, and system management (#1 priority)
- Implement and maintain system security controls in accordance with RMF, DoD Cloud SRG, and STIG requirements
- Support secure system configurations, vulnerability remediation, and compliance audits
- Manage and troubleshoot networking components including VPCs/VNets, VPNs, firewalls, routing, peering, and zero-trust architectures
- Collaborate with DISA and mission stakeholders to support operational and security objectives
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes in accordance with DoD standards
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with Linux and Windows systems administration in enterprise or hardened environments
- Strong experience with RHEL Linux, Windows Server 2019/2022, and Active Directory administration (critical requirement)
- Knowledge of RMF, DoD Cloud SRG, STIG implementation, and secure configuration standards
- Understanding of networking concepts including VPCs/VNets, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and zero-trust principles
- Security+ (or equivalent) IAT Level II certification required on day one
- Active Secret clearance with eligibility for TS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work onsite at Fort Meade 4–5 days per week
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience supporting IL5 or IL6 DoD cloud environments
- Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other DoD Mission Support Cloud platforms
- General understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure concepts
