Position Summary
ANSER is seeking a Staff Action Officer to play a key role in the daily business operations of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Directorate. In this role you will oversee the receipt, tasking, tracking, and closure of internal and external actions to ensure mission and organizational objectives are achieved. You will provide expert-level coordination, communication, and documentation support to senior executives and cross-functional teams within the NRO and across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC).
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the NRO’s Tracking Information and Enterprise Response (TIER) action system, ensuring timely and accurate task completion.
- Perform initial administrative and technical assessments of incoming actions and coordinate appropriate tasking and responses.
- Analyze and consolidate group responses to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper coordination within the organization.
- Prepare, review, and edit executive-level documents, correspondence, point papers, and briefings for senior leadership.
- Track, report, and present the status of actions, identifying new, pending, and overdue items.
- Maintain historical records and reference files to support future task development and continuity.
- Coordinate and disseminate critical information to internal and external partners, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
- Support and participate in interagency committees, Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), working groups, and task forces.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for action tracking processes.
- Generate metrics and accountability reports demonstrating timeliness and quality of completed actions.
- Manage recognition programs, training records, and security compliance documentation.
- Disseminate policy and legislative updates to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain high-quality presentations for audiences up to the Director, NRO level.
- Provide technical and administrative support during senior leadership briefings and reviews.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, program offices, and external partners to promote cooperation and effective communication.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with Counterintelligence Polygraph.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program or project management, systems engineering, or executive-level staff operations within the DoD or Intelligence Community.
- Prior experience with acquisition regulations, DoD and IC budget and finance processes, and national security policy.
- Demonstrated understanding of NRO, IC, and DoD organizational structures, missions, and operating principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft and deliver messages appropriate to senior-level audiences.
- Minimum of 3 years direct experience either directly supporting NRO as a federal employee or government contractor.
- Proven ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
