Position Description: Join a dynamic team supporting critical Army aviation missions as a Systems Administrator in Fort Rucker, AL. This 100% onsite role offers the opportunity to maintain and enhance secure IT systems in a high-impact DoD environment, ensuring operational readiness for mission-critical applications.
You will play a key role in administering Windows-based operating systems, managing Active Directory (including legacy and Azure environments), and supporting software integration on secure networks. As a liaison between stakeholders, you'll facilitate communication, coordinate upgrades, and ensure compliance with Army regulations—all while minimizing disruption to aviation maintenance and flight operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining system integrity, performing backups, recovery, and routine maintenance
- Installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting operating systems and software
- Managing software licensing, maintenance agreements, and compliance (e.g., DA Pam 738-751)
- Providing technical expertise for network support and Active Directory administration
- Scripting with PowerShell for automation, silent installations, and system management
- Coordinating software integrations on the DoWIN network and serving as primary liaison with NETCOM and customers
- Planning and executing system upgrades/patches to support Army aircraft maintenance without impacting mission readiness

Required Skills/Education:
- Active Secret security clearance
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP)
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification—or AZ-204/AZ-400—(must obtain within 3 months of hire if not current)
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in systems administration, Windows server management, or related IT roles
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, including conditional logic, registry/file operations, error handling, custom logging, and creating silent/unattended installers (MSI/MST, EXE switches)
- Strong troubleshooting skills using tools like Event Viewer, ProcMon, Sysinternals, and installation logs
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive shared objectives
Desired Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of DA Pam 738-751 and DoWIN network software integration
- Familiarity with Army aviation maintenance procedures, flight requirements, and electronic logbook software (e.g., Aircraft Notebook or similar)
