Core Areas of Responsibility
Artificial Intelligence & Legal Systems Advancement
- Establish and lead the firm’s approach to AI adoption, including governance and responsible use of generative AI across internal and client-facing use cases.
- Assess, trial, and deploy AI-enabled tools that support areas such as research, document analysis, compliance workflows, and litigation preparation.
Innovation Planning & Delivery
- Create a multi-year innovation framework aligned to client outcomes, attorney effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Track and evaluate new technologies—such as advanced knowledge platforms, analytics-driven insights, and intelligent drafting tools—and determine where they can create meaningful impact.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to embed innovation priorities into legal service models and operational strategy.
- Support the development of differentiated, technology-enabled offerings for clients.
Organizational Adoption & Enablement
- Drive firmwide engagement around innovation through structured learning, experimentation, and cross-team initiatives.
- Design and oversee education programs that help attorneys and staff confidently adopt new tools and workflows.
- Define success metrics to monitor usage, business value, and long-term return on innovation investments.
External Partnerships & Platform Oversight
- Lead relationships with legal technology providers, AI vendors, and external innovation partners.
- Oversee selection, rollout, and optimization of technology platforms, including contract management and internally developed or third-party applications.
Experience & Background
- Minimum of 7 years in roles spanning innovation, legal operations, or technology leadership within a law firm, legal department, or legal technology organization.
- Strong working knowledge of AI capabilities in legal environments, including modern generative AI and research platforms.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing change in professional services settings.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Advanced degree in law, business, or technology is a plus, but not a requirement.
Nice-to-Have Attributes
- Visibility as a legal innovation leader through speaking, writing, or participation in industry groups (e.g., ILTA, CLOC, ACC Legal Ops).
- Exposure to information security, data privacy, and regulatory considerations tied to technology deployment.
- A balance of strategic perspective and execution mindset—comfortable setting direction and personally driving progress.
