Business Systems Analyst III – Investment Accounting & Data (Only for Local to Austin, TX)
Position Summary
The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) is seeking a senior-level Business Systems Analyst III with deep experience in investment accounting systems, portfolio data, and financial analytics. This role will support enterprise initiatives to modernize ERS’s investment accounting and data platforms, enabling scalable, trusted, and self-service access to investment insights across the organization.
Engagement Details
- Duration: 6 months (40 hours/week; ~990 total hours)
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business, data, and process requirements elicitation for investment accounting and portfolio management systems
- Develop detailed end-to-end investment workflows, data flows, and source-to-target mappings
- Define ERS-specific use cases and support vendor evaluations, RFP/RFI processes, and solution demonstrations
- Support system implementations, including configuration, data mapping, validation, and UAT
- Enhance and maintain portfolio management and investment data applications
- Support data governance initiatives, including data quality controls, metadata documentation, and lineage tracking
- Design and deliver dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for investment and financial reporting
- Provide advisory support to Investment leadership throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, internal controls, and information security standards
- Support change management through training materials, user documentation, and onboarding
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 10+ years of experience as a Business or Business Systems Analyst
- 5+ years supporting investment or financial data systems
- Proven experience with:
- Investment accounting or portfolio management systems
- Requirements elicitation and functional documentation
- Data analysis, data validation, and data mapping
- SQL querying across large datasets
- System implementations, upgrades, or integrations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within asset management, pension fund, or asset owner environments
- Strong understanding of investment accounting workflows and asset classes
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, APIs, and modern data architectures
- Professional certifications such as CBAP or CFA
