A confidential financial services organization in New York City is seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead and scale its enterprise technology infrastructure within a regulated lending and banking environment.
This role is infrastructure-first, not application development-led. The successful CTO will be responsible for technology operations, infrastructure resilience, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and regulatory readiness, ensuring the organization’s platforms remain secure, available, and scalable as the business grows.
This is a hybrid role based in NYC, working closely with executive leadership, risk, compliance, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Infrastructure & Operations
- Own and lead the organization’s enterprise infrastructure strategy, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across all systems.
- Oversee Microsoft-based (MS shop) infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, M365, and related enterprise platforms.
- Manage on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments with a strong focus on operational reliability and cost discipline.
- Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, controls, and documentation.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Design, maintain, and test disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans aligned with financial services best practices.
- Ensure RTO/RPO objectives are clearly defined, tested, and met.
- Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident remediation.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Own the cybersecurity posture of the organization, including policies, controls, monitoring, and incident response.
- Partner with internal and external teams to manage penetration testing, vulnerability management, and security audits.
- Ensure compliance with banking and lending regulatory expectations related to information security, data protection, and access controls.
- Act as a senior stakeholder in security governance and risk assessments.
Financial Services Technology Leadership
- Provide executive-level technology leadership within a regulated lending or banking environment.
- Partner with risk, compliance, finance, and operations leaders to ensure technology supports regulatory, audit, and reporting requirements.
- Guide technology decisions that support loan origination, loan servicing, treasury, and portfolio management systems.
Team & Vendor Leadership
- Lead and mentor infrastructure, IT operations, and security teams.
- Manage third-party vendors, MSPs, cloud providers, and security partners.
- Establish clear SLAs, KPIs, and accountability across technology operations.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience within a lending, banking, or financial services environment.
- Prior experience as a CTO, Head of Technology, VP Infrastructure, or equivalent senior role.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft-based enterprise environments (MS shop).
- Strong background in infrastructure, IT operations, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity (not application development-focused).
- Proven experience supporting regulated financial institutions, including audits, compliance, and risk management.
- Experience managing hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting loan platforms, core banking systems, or financial data environments.
- Familiarity with SOC, ISO, or similar security and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working with external regulators, auditors, and risk committees.
- Prior leadership in mid-size or growth-stage financial institutions.
