Chief Compliance Officer – Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City. The position is ideal for candidates with deep regulatory experience and a strong understanding of compliance frameworks across energy, nuclear, and public-company environments.
The Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing Hadron Energy’s corporate compliance and ethics programs as the company transitions toward becoming a publicly traded enterprise. This individual will ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies — including NRC, DOE, SEC, and Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) standards — while fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
You will work closely with the CEO, General Counsel, CFO, and Board of Directors to design and manage systems that ensure the company’s operations, communications, and filings remain fully compliant with federal, state, and international regulatory requirements. This role will also oversee internal investigations, risk assessments, and compliance audits to safeguard Hadron’s reputation as a trusted leader in advanced nuclear technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead Hadron Energy’s enterprise-wide compliance program, including policies, training, and enforcement
- Ensure adherence to NRC, DOE, SEC, and other federal and state regulatory requirements
- Implement internal controls and procedures to maintain compliance with Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) and public-company reporting standards
- Conduct risk assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews to proactively identify and mitigate exposure
- Establish and maintain policies covering anti-bribery (ABAC/FCPA), export control (10 CFR 110/810), cybersecurity, privacy, and environmental standards
- Serve as the company’s primary liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external advisors for compliance-related matters
- Partner with the General Counsel and CFO on governance, disclosure, and ethics compliance across all subsidiaries and divisions
- Manage investigations of potential noncompliance, oversee corrective action plans, and ensure timely remediation
- Deliver compliance training programs for all employees, executives, and board members
- Provide quarterly compliance reports and risk assessments to the CEO and Board of Directors
- Promote a strong ethical culture aligned with Hadron’s mission and values
Qualifications & Skillsets
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; JD or CPA preferred
- 10+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles, with at least 5 years in a public-company or highly regulated industry (energy, nuclear, defense, or manufacturing)
- Proven expertise with SOX compliance, risk management, and internal control frameworks
- Familiarity with NRC and DOE regulations, export control (10 CFR 810/110), and anti-corruption laws (FCPA, ABAC)
- Experience establishing or scaling compliance programs during a company’s growth or IPO phase
- Strong understanding of financial reporting controls, governance, and corporate ethics policies
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across executive, legal, and technical teams
- Uncompromising integrity, discretion, and judgment in managing sensitive information
