Role: Senior Systems Administrator
Location: Boston, MA
Salary: $150,000 - $175,000
Position Summary
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication systems. Working closely with the C suite, this role will contribute to defining and implementing new IT initiatives. The position also involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing technical support across all levels, and delivering end-user training when needed.
This role requires handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining a high standard of customer service. Integrity and confidentiality are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to define tactical and strategic IT plans based on business needs and system lifecycle requirements.
- Lead and implement IT projects, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships for upgrades, maintenance, and service calls.
- Oversee daily operations of IT infrastructure, including servers, desktops, remote connectivity, security, printers, phones, and WAN connections.
- Maintain and optimize business and server applications throughout their lifecycle.
- Provide timely technical support and take ownership of issues until resolution.
- Ensure data protection and disaster recovery through regular backups and testing.
- Administer network security and manage user access.
- Conduct technology onboarding for new employees and provide training as needed.
- Perform asset management, change control, and contribute to system documentation and architecture design.
- Monitor and diagnose system logs, alerts, and nightly processes.
- Assist with IT budget planning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in IT systems administration within a professional environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or sufficient work experience required; relevant certifications preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Active Directory, Office Suite).
- Understanding of networking, firewalls, security principles, virtualization (VMware), and storage solutions.
- Experience with Nutanix, Palo Alto, Zoom Phone, and Cisco is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours for occasional off-hours tasks.
- Physical ability to move and install equipment as needed.
- Willingness to handle tasks ranging from helpdesk support to advanced server administration.

Additional Information
- 3 days onsite in the financial district, with core hours being 9am – 5pm.
