Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Information Services, this position is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and support of applications and server infrastructure for Memorial Healthcare. Works with the virtual server environment to ensure quality performance and delivery of hospital applications. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the implementation, administration, and maintenance of Windows Server operating systems in a highly available virtualized environment, supporting over 400 servers across a multi-site stretched cluster.
- Manage corporate data backup solutions to provide system level and file level data backups, recovery, and archival for all servers and datacenter systems, with focus on disaster avoidance, business continuity, and data validation.
- Experience with evaluating, testing, and implementing operating system and software updates through automated and manual processes, as relevant hardware drivers.
- Knowledge of the design and administration of Windows Server domain controllers, Active Directory, DNS, and group policies.
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts with ability to enable, disable and assign VLANs to switchports.
- Develop clear and concise procedural documentation and instruction manuals, follow sound change control processes.
- Coordinate with others within the department and outside the department on the implementation and configuration of clinical and non-clinical software, and provide infrastructure support for such software and hardware residing in the datacenter.
- System administrator for server and desktop virtualization using VMWare.
- Ability to allocate enterprise storage to servers and manage day-to-day storage maintenance tasks.
- Schedules daily, weekly, and monthly operating procedures for computer system.
- Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze problems, determine cause and initiate corrective action.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related fields) required.
- Microsoft, VMWare and/or other applicable certifications preferred.
Experience
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Two years’ work experience and demonstrated knowledge of computer information systems, storage area networks, networking, and virtual environments.
Essential Physical Abilities/Motor Skills

Must be able to travel independently throughout the hospital; access patients/families including areas confined by space and/or equipment.

Essential Technical Abilities
- Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Basic computer skills are required including keyboarding, MS Windows and/or PC's, thin clients, printers, and understanding of general technical concepts used in Healthcare Information Management.
- Basic understanding of Client / Server computing, Remote Access, Server and Application monitoring.
- Good understanding of project management; including project planning, budget, implementation and tracking.
