As the Chief Risk Officer, you will provide strategic leadership for the Bank's independent Risk Management Service Area, including Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, Credit Review, Vendor Management, Procurement, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Insurance and Information Security oversight. You will serve as a strategic advisor to the President and Advisory Board, ensuring effective identification, measurement, and mitigation of risk while supporting the Bank's mission and long-term objectives.
In this role, you will direct the Bank's overall risk assessment framework, while overseeing internal audit execution and compliance testing to ensure effective controls and regulatory alignment. You will provide oversight of credit review, vendor risk management, procurement, insurance programs, and business continuity planning. You will partner with NDIT to oversee the unified information security function and ensure appropriate governance structures are in place.
You will participate in executive-level decision-making as a voting member of the Executive Committee, Funds Management Committee, Technology Steering Committee, and Risk Committee. You will contribute to strategic planning, evaluate and recommend objectives that support the Bank's long-term initiatives, represent the Bank before legislative and state entities, and assist in preparation and management of the biennial budget.
This position also provides leadership over risk associated with fintech initiatives. You will identify, assess, mitigate, and manage emerging risks; develop policies and mitigation strategies; conduct risk assessments; and ensure appropriate risk training for employees. You will maintain sound strategies for complex internal and external fintech relationships while ensuring appropriate balance between innovation, security, and regulatory compliance.
As a member of the executive leadership team, you will lead, mentor, and coach Risk Management staff, promote consistent standards and professional development, and foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and proactive risk awareness. You will also support organizational and cultural change initiatives aligned with the Bank's core values and mission.
To be successful in this position, you will bring extensive experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance, credit review, vendor management, or related disciplines within a financial institution. You will demonstrate strong executive judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence decision-making at the highest levels of the organization while navigating complex regulatory and operational environments.
To be considered for this position, you will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a closely related field, along with a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in risk management or related areas. Experience in identifying and managing risk related to fintech is required. At least five years of leadership experience managing, coaching, and developing professional staff is also required.
