CTO / Founding Engineer - Industrial Infrastructure Software
Location: San Francisco
Ground Control is building software for complex, real-world infrastructure problems - factory selection, facility buildouts, and ongoing operations for advanced manufacturing companies.
We spent our first year embedded in paid pilot projects with aerospace, nuclear, robotics, and energy startups, proving service-market fit and deeply understanding operational pain points. We recently closed a $2M pre-seed and are now translating those workflows into a scalable, AI-enabled platform.
We’re looking for a hands-on CTO / Founding Engineer to own system architecture, ship product, and build the early engineering team.
You
- Senior engineer or technical lead with strong product instincts.
- Experience building 0-1 B2B SaaS.
- Industrial software, manufacturing, proptech, or construction tech familiarity preferred.
- Experience building AI-enabled or automation-heavy workflows.
- Interest in incorporating graphics and data to support decision making and scope definition.
- Comfortable leading early-stage product development, making tradeoffs, and building with a lean team.
- U.S.-based (work authorization required given customer profile).
- Affinity for concrete - motivated by systems that impact the physical world.
Why
- Our users are building aerospace, nuclear, robotics, and energy systems - you will work alongside teams advancing critical technologies.
- Facilities are often critical path to hardware innovation. We exist to remove that bottleneck.
- High ownership, meaningful equity, and ability to shape team culture.
- Opportunity to build agentic software for the physical world.
