System Administrator – Hybrid (Washington, DC)
Clearance Required: Secret
Aperio Global is looking for a talented
System Administrator to join a team driving meaningful modernization across federal spectrum management systems. If you're energized by building secure, high-performing cloud environments that support real mission-critical work, this could be exactly what you've been looking for.
About the Work:
This program is transforming how the federal government manages its spectrum systems portfolio — introducing smarter technologies, stronger automation, and better interoperability across agencies. Your work will be at the heart of that transformation, designing and maintaining the cloud i
What You'll Be Doing:
You'll be designing and architecting robust Azure Government cloud infrastructures — virtual networks, subnets, firewall rules, VM configurations — built for scalability, high availability, and security. You'll use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates) to provision and manage cloud resources, and ensure consistent environment builds across development, staging, and production in line with FedRAMP requirements.
Security is woven into everything you do here. You'll integrate identity and access management through Azure AD and RBAC, enforce least-privilege access, implement multi-factor authentication, and apply DISA STIGs and CIS benchmarks to OS images and network settings. Data protection — encryption at rest and in transit via Azure Key Vault and SSL/TLS — is part of your standard toolkit.
On the data side, you'll help develop a data strategy vision for users with high-end analytical needs, building platforms that support data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, data lakes, geospatial analysis, and big data querying. You'll also support FinOps initiatives, focusing on cost optimization, automation, and efficiency across the infrastructure.
Beyond the technical work, you'll lead architecture decision-making, conduct peer reviews, create detailed design documentation, and guide engineering teams on cloud best practices.
A Few Things to Know About This Role:
This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC. Experience in federal or state government environments is a strong advantage, as is familiarity with ServiceNow, MS Visio, and Agile/Scrum workflows.
What We're Looking For:
We need someone with 10+ years of related experience and deep hands-on expertise across Azure, Terraform/Bicep, networking, and security. You should be fluent in tools like Python, Docker, GitLab, Ansible, and PowerShell, and comfortable leading technical decisions in complex, compliance-driven environments. Strong communication and leadership skills matter just as much as the technical depth — you'll be guiding teams and engaging stakeholders regularly.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training is required. A Master's in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
At least one of the following is required: Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or ISC2 CISSP.
