Position Overview
A leading commercial construction company based in the DFW metroplex is seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to serve as the organization’s top technology leader and architect its enterprise technology strategy.
This is a hands-on executive leadership role responsible for building, scaling, and modernizing the company’s technology environment to support operational excellence, project execution, field operations, financial performance, and long-term growth.
The CTO will lead the transition from a functionally oriented IT environment to a scalable, secure, and data-driven technology platform aligned with the company’s growth strategy. The role requires a proven technology executive with experience leading mid-sized organizations (100–500 users) and building high-performing technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
- Serve as the company’s senior technology executive, accountable for enterprise IT strategy, execution, and governance
- Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with business, operational, and growth objectives
- Partner closely with the CEO, CFO, COO, and executive leadership to enable scalable operations and margin expansion
Systems, Infrastructure & Applications
- Own all core systems supporting construction operations, finance, project management, field technology, and corporate functions
- Evaluate, select, implement, and optimize platforms such as:
- Construction ERP & project management systems
- Field mobility and jobsite technology
- Data, reporting, and analytics platforms
- Cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity tools
- Drive system integration, data integrity, and process standardization across the organization
Team Build-Out & Organizational Design
- Lead and scale the internal technology organization
- Initial team of 2–3 direct reports, with responsibility to:
- Build out the technology department structure
- Define roles, responsibilities, and operating cadence
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-caliber technology talent
- Establish clear governance, prioritization, and delivery frameworks
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
- Own cybersecurity strategy, controls, and incident response
- Ensure systems, data, and infrastructure meet security, compliance, and risk management standards
- Partner with external vendors and advisors to maintain best-in-class controls
Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage technology budget, vendor relationships, and third-party partners
- Drive cost efficiency while improving system reliability and performance
- Negotiate and manage contracts, SLAs, and implementation partners
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience
- Prior experience as a CTO, VP of IT, or senior technology leader in a mid-size organization (100–500 users)
- Proven success building and scaling technology teams and departments
- Experience supporting project-based, operationally complex environments
- (construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, or field-based services strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of:
- ERP and project management systems
- Cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity
- Systems integration and data architecture
- Technology governance and change management
- Hands-on, execution-oriented leader comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and operations teams
