Our client is a well-known services company that services the New York and Westchester area. We are seeking a skilled and experienced
Windows System Administrator to join our client's IT team.
Salary/Hourly Rate
$60/hr
Position Overview
The ideal candidate for the Windows System Administrator role will have 5 - 7 years of hands-on experience managing Windows environments and a strong understanding of SQL databases. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the Windows-based infrastructure and supporting SQL systems that are critical to business operations. This is a 3-year contract.
Responsibilities Of The Windows System Administrator
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Implement, support, and maintain backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery plans.
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server environments.
- Write and optimize SQL queries and scripts for system automation and reporting.
- Collaborate with the Development and Application teams to ensure system compatibility and performance.
- Collaborate with customers, adjacent technical teams, and all levels of management to address systems issues.
- Maintain security best practices, including system hardening and vulnerability management.
- Produce documentation for system configurations, procedures, and change controls.
Required Experience/Skills for the Windows System Administrator:
- 5 - 7 years of experience in Windows system administration in mid to large-scale environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (installation, maintenance, scripting, performance tuning).
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.
- High level of familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix).
- Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Windows System Administrator:
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes is a plus.
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Hybrid Server Administrator.
- Microsoft Certified: Administrator Associate.
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
