SuretyBind Overview:
SuretyBind is an innovative industry-owned start-up focused on transforming the
surety industry through technology-driven solutions. Our products are designed to
streamline data transmission and digital bond execution. As we embark on creating
a centralized data transmission hub and digital bond execution platforms, we are
seeking a Chief Technology Officer to architect and build these solutions with the
ability to scale and support the entire surety industry.
Position Overview:
The Chief Technology Officer will establish SuretyBind’s technical vision and will
lead all aspects of SuretyBind’s technical development to effectively deliver
products and services to SuretyBind’s customers. The Chief Technology Officer must
understand the application of new and emerging technologies. This person should
be an industry veteran with familiarity with surety systems and associated
challenges. The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for SuretyBind’s
technology architecture, infrastructure, development, and security. This role
requires someone Goal oriented with a track record of success, comfortable working
in a startup environment, accomplished at building and leading highly proficient
teams, and capable of delivering software on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technology Strategy & Architecture
a. Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns
with SuretyBind’s business objectives
b. Architect scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions for
SuretyBind products.
c. Implement a hub-and-spoke architecture to facilitate seamless data
transmission between stakeholders
2. Leadership & Management
a. Build and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture
of innovation and excellence.
b. Collaborate with the SuretyBind Leader and other executives to align
technology initiatives and software with business strategies
c. Oversee vendor relationships and ensure effective technology
partnerships
3. Product Development & Implementation
a. Lead the design and development of APIs and other technical
components to enable efficient data sharing and integration with key
industry stakeholders including large sureties and brokers.
b. Ensure that SuretyBind products can be implemented efficiently,
integrate with legacy systems as required, and minimize switching
costs.
c. Incorporate agile methodologies for iterative product development
and enhancements
4. Security & Compliance
a. Develop and enforce robust security protocols to ensure data integrity
and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
b. Oversee regular security reviews and audits, including third-party
penetration testing
c. Evaluate and implement audits and standards such as SOC 2 Type 2
and ISO 27001.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
a. Engage with sureties, brokers, and industry organizations to ensure
technology solutions meet stakeholder needs
b. Act as an evangelist for SuretyBind’s technology and solutions to
internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
1. Industry veteran with 15+ years of progressive technology leadership,
including 5+ in senior technology leadership roles within the
surety/insurance industries
2. Strategic mindset with the ability to align technology initiatives with
business goals.
3. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to build and scale technology infrastructure from the
ground up
5. Experienced in the application of data, analytics, and technology within the
surety/insurance industries
6. Strong expertise in architecting cloud-based solutions by leveraging cloud
providers such as AWS.
7. Experience with API development and data integration.
8. Track record of establishing data security best practices and creating a
culture of data security as the highest priority. Track record of building
software within budget and on-time.
