A mission-driven healthcare organization is conducting a confidential search for a Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role is ideal for a seasoned operational leader who brings both strategic and executional excellence to a complex, multi-site healthcare environment. As a core member of the executive leadership team, the COO will lead day-to-day operations, clinical integration, performance improvement, and operational excellence across the organization.
What You’ll Own
- Oversee clinical operations across hospitals, medical groups, and ambulatory care settings.
- Implement and scale operational strategies that drive patient access, clinical outcomes, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with clinical leadership on care delivery transformation and service line integration.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives, including throughput, quality, and safety metrics.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain accreditation readiness.
- Oversee workforce planning, labor cost management, and union relations (where applicable).
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between clinical, administrative, and technology teams.
- Manage large-scale capital projects, facilities planning, and infrastructure improvements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and board on operational priorities and enterprise risk.
What We’re Looking For
- 15+ years of progressive leadership in healthcare operations, including experience at the SVP or COO level.
- Proven ability to lead complex, matrixed organizations with unionized workforces and integrated delivery systems.
- Experience in value-based care, population health, and health system transformation preferred.
- Track record of improving clinical, operational, and financial outcomes across multiple service lines.
- Strong executive presence, communication skills, and ability to influence across stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
