Founding Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
About VYVA Health
VYVA Health was created to address a fundamental gap in human performance: critical signals around training, recovery, stress, and readiness exist, but they are fragmented, inconsistent, and difficult to interpret in practice.
Most systems capture data. Few help people understand what matters, when it matters, and how to act on it. VYVA is being built to close that gap.
We are developing a performance intelligence platform that brings together physiological data and contextual inputs into a single, coherent system designed to support better day-to-day and longer-horizon decisions for teams and organizations operating in performance-critical environments.
VYVA is transitioning out of stealth and currently building toward its Minimum Viable Product, alongside early partnerships and a pre-seed raise.
About the Role
As the Founding CTO, you will lead the technical vision and execution of VYVA from early build through initial scale. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to architect, build, and iterate, while shaping the long-term technical foundation of the company.
You will work closely with the founder to translate product direction and performance requirements into scalable systems, make key technical decisions under uncertainty, and establish engineering practices appropriate for an early-stage company. This role blends strategic thinking with deep, practical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Vision & Architecture:
- Define and evolve the platform’s technical architecture and engineering roadmap in alignment with product goals.
- Make pragmatic decisions around technology choices, balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalability.
- Establish foundational approaches to data ingestion, integration, and system reliability.
- Ensure the system remains understandable and maintainable as complexity grows.
Product Development:
- Lead end-to-end development of the core platform from MVP onward.
- Contribute directly to writing, reviewing, and shipping production code.
- Design and build systems that support data-intensive workflows while remaining practical and resilient.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback without sacrificing technical integrity.
Team Building & Leadership:
- Hire and mentor early engineering talent as the company grows.
- Establish lightweight processes for collaboration, code quality, and iteration.
- Foster a culture of integrity, ownership, clarity, and technical rigor without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Cross Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with the founder on product strategy, prioritization, and milestones.
- Clearly communicate technical tradeoffs and progress to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support investor and partner conversations as needed, particularly around technical direction and feasibility.
Operational Foundations:
- Own early infrastructure decisions, including cloud services, environments, and developer tooling.
- Establish appropriate approaches to security, privacy, and system reliability as the platform matures.
- Ensure systems are observable, testable, and dependable.
What We're Looking For
Experience:
- Strong background in software engineering with experience building and shipping real products.
- Experience working in early-stage startups or similarly ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Comfort working with data-heavy systems, analytics, or platform-style products.
Prior CTO experience is not required. Founder, early-employee, or senior engineer backgrounds are welcome.
Leadership and Communication:
- Clear communicator who enjoys working closely with a non-technical founder.
- Comfortable making decisions with imperfect information.
- Interest in mentoring and growing others over time.
Mindset:
- Builder-oriented and hands-on.
- Drawn to complex systems and decision-support problems.
- Values clarity, practicality, and durability over hype.
- Comfortable operating in a resource-constrained, early-stage environment.
What We Offer
- Founding-level influence over product and technical direction
- Equity-focused compensation, with salary introduced as funding allows.
- Significant autonomy to make real technical decisions.
- The opportunity to build a meaningful platform from first principles in a critical problem space.
