Position Summary: Join our dynamic team in Columbia, SC, where your expertise will drive the seamless operation of our computer systems. We are seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the day-to-day activities and assignments of our Computer Operations staff, ensuring efficient and effective performance across all shifts.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations, ensuring scheduled work is completed on time and managing unscheduled production and maintenance.
- Coordinate with other operators to ensure proper knowledge transfer and task turnover between shifts.
- Identify and resolve computer system problems.
- Train, motivate, and guide assigned staff, providing input to management regarding staff performance.
- Manage daily activities to resolve problems and change management issues, offering advice and guidance to lower-level operators.
- Operate and monitor computer systems and related equipment, ensuring all batch cycles are completed by deadlines.
- Identify, monitor, and diagnose system problems, initiating corrective action where possible.
- Compile and maintain reports related to computer operations, reviewing equipment logs and reports on equipment efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT groups to ensure service objectives are met, recommending quality improvements.
- Oversee daily activities and assignments of helpdesk operations staff (4–6 members)
- Follow up on work performance and productivity
- Manage the day-to-day operations of operators, specialists, and technicians
- Ensure scheduled work is completed on time and handle unscheduled production and maintenance
- Identify and resolve computer system problems
Qualifications:
- Maintains tape libraries
- Monitors computing platforms
- Notifies customers of problems
- Operates console systems
- Troubleshoots computing platforms
- 5 years of experience in the operation and support of various computer systems
Preferred:
- Experience in helpdesk and technical support environments
- CompTIA A Certification preferred (not required)
