Akkodis is seeking a
System Administrator for a
Contract with a client in
Plano, TX. This role requires an expert Mainframe Network System Programmer with hands‑on mastery in VTAM, SNA, TCP/IP stacks, and Policy Agent.
Rate Range: $60/hour to $75/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
System Administrator Job Responsibilities Include
- Maintain, support, and optimize Mainframe network components including VTAM, TCP/IP stacks, OSA, and Enterprise Extender in a parallel sysplex environment.
- Install, configure, and customize system‑side network settings such as PROFILE, PORT, Policy Agent, and PU/LU definitions.
- Perform advanced network debugging and packet tracing (IPTRACE, NETSTAT) to analyze issues and ensure high‑availability operations.
- Manage and tune communication services across multi‑LPAR environments, ensuring secure and efficient SNA and TCP/IP communication.
- Utilize TSO/ISPF and z/OS tools for system diagnostics, configuration updates, and ongoing environment maintenance.
- Implement and manage network‑related security controls including encryption, Policy Agent configurations, and compliance‑driven communication policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 8–15 years of hands‑on experience in Mainframe Network System Programming or Network System Administration.
- Strong expertise in VTAM, TCP/IP customization, Policy Agent (PAGENT), and multi‑LPAR Mainframe network environments.
- Proven experience in network debugging, packet tracing (IPTRACE/NETSTAT), and maintaining secure, high‑availability communication services within a parallel sysplex setup.

Pay Details: $60.00 to $75.00 per hour
