Position Summary
The Systems Administrator provides day to day operational support, sustainment, and troubleshooting for Air Force Medical information systems supporting clinical, pharmacy, and operational medical missions. This role ensures the availability, security, and performance of medical IT infrastructure in support of En Route Care (ERC), patient safety, and mission readiness for the 375th Medical Group and HQ AMC/SG.
The Systems Administrator works closely with government medical staff, network teams, cybersecurity personnel, and systems engineers to resolve incidents, support deployments, maintain compliance, and ensure continuity of care across Air Force Medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Network Operations
- Administers and supports Windows based medical IT systems, endpoints, and peripheral devices in clinical and operational environments
- Performs Layer 2 network support including switch management, port configuration, and connectivity troubleshooting
- Manages Active Directory user and device administration, group policies, and access controls
- Supports Remote Desktop (RDP), Bomgar, PowerShell, and command line troubleshooting activities
Medical IT & Clinical System Support
- Provides hands on support for medical devices, pharmacy automation systems, printers, kiosks, and EHR adjacent systems
- Coordinates equipment verification, software validation, and system connectivity for medical applications
- Supports MHS GENESIS related activities including device verification and peripheral coordination
- Responds to and resolves clinical IT incidents impacting patient care and pharmacy operations
Incident Response & Troubleshooting
- Diagnoses and resolves system outages, connectivity issues, and performance degradation
- Identifies root causes of system issues including IP conflicts, port misconfigurations, and device failures
- Coordinates with vendors, network teams, and government stakeholders to restore services rapidly
- Provides follow up validation to ensure issues remain resolved
Asset & Device Management
- Manages mobile device inventories including deployment, tracking, and lifecycle management
- Supports IT asset accountability and inventory accuracy for medical equipment and endpoints
- Assists with equipment moves, adds, and changes within medical facilities
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Operates in compliance with DoD, Air Force, and DHA cybersecurity requirements
- Supports implementation of Security+ best practices and secure configuration standards
- Assists cybersecurity staff with vulnerability response, access control enforcement, and secure system operations
- Maintains awareness of HIPAA, PHI, and PII handling requirements in medical environments
Customer & Stakeholder Support
- Serves as a trusted onsite technical resource for government medical personnel
- Communicates clearly with clinical staff to translate technical issues into operational impacts
- Provides responsive, mission focused support in high tempo and resource constrained environments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- CompTIA Security+ certification (active)
- Experience administering Windows systems in enterprise or government environments
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows networking
- Experience supporting medical, clinical, or operational IT environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a mission critical setting
- Annual Vaccinations as Required by the MEDGROUP
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Air Force or DoD medical facilities
- Familiarity with MHS GENESIS or EHR adjacent systems
- Experience supporting pharmacy automation or medical devices
- Prior experience working on AF Medical or DHA contracts
