Job Summary
The Network & Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organization’s hardware, software, cloud applications, and network infrastructure. This role ensures the optimal performance, reliability, and security of networks, including LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and related systems.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
- Collaborate on designing and implementing new network solutions or upgrades to meet organizational needs.
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
- Implement network security measures to safeguard systems and data.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Monitor network performance and proactively resolve connectivity or performance issues.
- Perform software and hardware upgrades to maintain network stability and efficiency.
- Ensure regular backups and implement disaster recovery plans.
User Support & Management
- Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and network access levels.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes for employees.
- Assist with IT training initiatives and produce reference materials for knowledge management.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and system documentation.
- Oversee the organization’s Security Awareness Training Program.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal IT policies.
Infrastructure & Cloud Management
- Manage Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud platforms.
- Oversee collaboration tools, storage platforms, and virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Maintain and support MDM, RMM, managed SOC, endpoint security, and IT service management platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of experience in network and systems administration.
- Proficiency with Windows Workstation/Server OS, VMware, Microsoft 365, EDR/MDR, email security, SQL Server, backup/restore/replication platforms, and emerging technologies.
- Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, Active Directory, TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Certifications (minimum of two):
- Microsoft or Cisco certifications in infrastructure or networking
- CompTIA Server+, Network+, or Security+
- CISSP or CySA+
Additional Information
This position is based in Washington, D.C. and follows a hybrid work schedule: three days in-office and two days remote.
