We are hiring a true Senior System Administrator based in the Richmond area to serve as the senior technical authority across client environments. While you will act as the final escalation point, this role is equally focused on infrastructure projects, client consultation, and continuous improvement of internal tools and processes. This is built for a senior MSP engineer who operates independently and elevates the team around them. This is a primarily remote role with a very limited amount of time required onsite with local RVA clients.
What You Will Do
• Serve as the final escalation resource for complex technical issues
• Perform deep root-cause analysis and implement permanent solutions
• Lead infrastructure initiatives across servers, virtualization, networking, and cloud
• Support Microsoft 365 including Entra ID, Exchange, Intune, and Purview
• Drive improvements in automation, tooling, and operational efficiency
• Provide consultative guidance to client stakeholders
• Mentor Tier I and Tier II engineers and strengthen technical standards
What You Bring
• Proven Tier III MSP experience in multi-client environments
• Strong Microsoft 365 and Entra ID expertise
• Windows and/or Linux server administration experience
• Virtualization experience with VMware or Hyper-V
• Strong networking skills including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs
• Cloud experience in Azure and/or AWS
• Strong troubleshooting methodology and documentation discipline
• Confident communicator with natural technical leadership presence
Compensation
• $105k–$115k base salary with flexibility for exceptional candidates
• 20% net commission eligibility tied to client-driven opportunities
