Job Title: System Administrator
Job Location: Warrenville, IL (Fully Onsite)
Contract – 6 Months (Possible Extension for Additional 6 Months)
Job Summary
We are seeking a System Administrator to support infrastructure and SIEM operations within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The role focuses on Windows Server administration, virtualization, hardware setup, and basic networking while assisting with the redesign and rebuild of a new SIEM platform. This position requires strong hands-on technical skills and the ability to meet nuclear site security and badging requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2019, 2022/2025+).
- Configure and manage Windows Virtual Machines (VMs).
- Support virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, or other hypervisors.
- Perform RAID configuration and storage management.
- Rack, cable, and support physical server and network hardware.
- Assist with testing, documenting, and validating SIEM hardware, software, and infrastructure.
- Support efforts to redesign and rebuild a new SIEM environment.
- Perform system backups, recovery, and patching activities.
- Maintain system configurations and ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Apply basic networking concepts including IP addressing, gateways, routing, and ports.
- Use firewall GUIs to configure rules, update IPs, and modify ports as needed.
- Provide basic support and troubleshooting for Splunk (not expert level).
- Create and maintain technical documentation and system records.
- Work under general supervision and report to a project lead or manager.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a System Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer.
- Strong experience with Windows Server configuration and administration.
- Hands-on experience with RAID, hardware setup, and cabling.
- Experience configuring Windows VMs and virtualization platforms (ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, gateways, routing).
- Ability to configure firewall rules using a GUI.
- Some exposure to Splunk or SIEM tools is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a regulated, security-sensitive environment.
- No degree required.

- Experience supporting SIEM platforms or security infrastructure.
- Prior experience in nuclear, energy, or other regulated environments.
- Strong documentation and compliance reporting skills.
