Position Summary
The System Administrator will be responsible for managing business critical software, administering security policies, and ensuring uptime during production hours. This individual will oversee local area networks, wide area networks, and other networking segments – including but not limited to VPN & Enterprise Wi-Fi. Daily tasks may include installing & upgrading network software and infra-structure hardware. This individual will also provide Tier 3 technical support for the IT Services group for troubleshooting issues that are typically production critical and/or involve architectural design. This person ensures all incidents and requests are analyzed, resolved and reported back within the promised timeframes and provides leadership guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts as needed.
Essential Functions And Key Responsibilities
- Manages and monitors existing systems to ensure the server and network environment meets company needs
- Documents the existing server and network environment and cross trains others to ensure a sustainable environment
- Researches new technology and plans for its inclusion into the server and network environment.
- Assist in developing and documenting improvements to current processes
- Assist other Sys Admins & IT Supervisor in the execution of established processes and escalations
- Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems
- Ensure the design of the system allows all components to work properly together
- Make recommendations for future upgrades & infrastructure guidance
- Maintain network and system security
- Tier 3 support for production systems
- Monitor networks to ensure security
- Evaluate and modify the system’s performance
- Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers
- Maintain the integrity of the network, server deployment, and security
- Ensure network connectivity throughout a company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations
- Design and deploy networks; Maintain network servers such as file servers, and VPN gateways
- Perform network address assignment
- Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration
- Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
- Administer servers, routers, switches, firewalls, software deployment, security updates and patches
Qualifications And Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in the computer information field required, plus 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may also be considered.
- Working skill level of networking, switches, VOIP, WAN/LAN, Servers, Wi-Fi, & VPN
- Set up and support enterprise level networks
- Management of production environments
- Implement cybersecurity controls appropriate to System Administrator roles
- On-going knowledge of current cyber security emerging trends / challenges
- AWS Cloud administration, architecture and design highly preferred
- Oracle OCI a plus
