About Arena Club
If you’re fascinated by sports cards and memorabilia, your search ends here. Arena Club is pioneering the collectibles domain by introducing the first-ever digital card show. Spearheaded by 5x World Series Champion Derek Jeter and serial entrepreneur Brian Lee, Arena Club has developed a fully digital marketplace. This innovative platform is built on trust, transparency, and fun, featuring grading & authentication, vaulting, and digital pack openings for collectors to build and showcase their collections in a personalized online showroom from anywhere in the world.
About The Role
We’re hiring a Compliance Officer to own Arena Club’s entire compliance function—from BSA/AML and money transmitter licensing at the federal and state level, to pre-IPO readiness, consumer protection, data privacy, and gaming regulations. You’ll be the named compliance officer on federal and state licensing applications and the primary point of contact for regulatory examiners.
Arena Club operates a digital wallet and marketplace that accepts cryptocurrency, facilitates stored-value transactions, and includes promotional programs—putting us at the intersection of financial services, gaming, and e-commerce regulation. This role exists because we need someone internal who can be listed as our compliance officer on money transmitter applications at the federal and state level. You’ll work directly with the President, General Counsel, and VP of Finance, and partner with an outsourced compliance firm that handles program build-out and multi-state filing volume while you own the strategy, accountability, and examiner relationships.
This is not a paper-pushing role. You’ll build the compliance infrastructure for a company preparing to go public, expanding into new collectible categories, and scaling transaction volume across a platform that touches money transmission, consumer finance, and digital assets. If you want to own a compliance function end to end at a company where the work actually matters, this is it.
What You Will Do
- BSA/AML & Money Transmitter Licensing: Serve as the named BSA/AML Compliance Officer on FinCEN registration and all state money transmitter license applications. Develop, implement, and maintain the written BSA/AML compliance program. Manage KYC/CDD/EDD processes, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting (SARs), currency transaction reporting (CTRs), and OFAC sanctions screening. Coordinate with the outsourced compliance firm on program architecture and independent testing.
- State Regulatory Compliance: Own ongoing compliance across all state money transmitter licenses—renewals, annual reporting, call reports, surety bond maintenance, and net worth requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for state examinations and manage relationships with regulators across jurisdictions. Track and respond to legislative and regulatory changes that affect our licensing obligations.
- Pre-IPO & SOX Readiness: Partner with the accounting team and external auditors to build the non-financial internal control framework needed for PCAOB audit readiness. Develop and maintain company-wide compliance policies, a code of conduct, whistleblower procedures, insider trading policies, and related-party transaction protocols. Support the buildout of a compliance committee and board-level reporting on compliance matters.
- Consumer Protection & Payments Compliance: Ensure the Arena Club Wallet complies with Regulation E, state stored-value and prepaid access requirements, and applicable consumer protection statutes. Manage compliance for payment processing, refund and dispute resolution policies, and disclosures required under federal and state consumer finance laws.
- Cryptocurrency & Digital Asset Compliance: Manage compliance obligations arising from Arena Club’s acceptance of cryptocurrency, including FinCEN virtual currency guidance, state-specific digital asset regulations, and travel rule requirements. Track federal and state legislative developments in the digital asset space.
- Data Privacy & Cybersecurity: Own compliance with CCPA/CPRA and other state privacy laws, including data mapping, consumer rights request processes, and vendor data processing agreements. Coordinate with engineering on cybersecurity compliance obligations, including applicable state-specific cybersecurity requirements for licensed financial institutions.
- Vendor & Third-Party Risk Management: Build and manage the third-party risk management program—due diligence on vendors handling consumer data or financial transactions, ongoing monitoring, and contractual compliance requirements. This includes oversight of the outsourced compliance firm, payment processors, and authentication partners.
- Training & Culture: Develop and deliver company-wide compliance training programs covering BSA/AML, insider trading, data privacy, consumer protection, and code of conduct. Foster a compliance-first culture across all departments.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of direct BSA/AML compliance experience at a money services business, fintech, bank, or payments company.
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification required, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire. CAMS is the industry standard and expected by state regulators during examinations.
- Hands-on experience with SAR/CTR filing, transaction monitoring systems, KYC/CDD processes, and OFAC screening. You’ve done the work, not just managed people who do it.
- Familiarity with the NMLS platform and state money transmitter licensing processes. Experience managing multi-state license applications or renewals is strongly preferred.
- Comfort being listed as a control person, executive officer, or responsible individual on state regulatory filings—including personal background checks, fingerprinting, credit reports, and financial disclosures required by various state regulators.
- Working knowledge of consumer protection regulations (Reg E, FTC Act, state UDAP/UDAAP), data privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA), or gaming regulations. You don’t need to be expert in all of these on day one, but you need to learn fast.
- Pre-IPO or public company compliance experience is a strong plus—SOX readiness, insider trading policy development, code of conduct, whistleblower programs, or PCAOB audit coordination.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication—able to translate regulatory requirements into plain language for executives and draft policies that are actually useful, not just shelf-ware.
- Self-directed and comfortable operating with ambiguity. You’ll be building the function, not inheriting one. If you need a playbook handed to you, this isn’t the role.
